Throughout the past two years, the pandemic has changed our perspective on a lot of things and the way we view our home is no exception. We have gone through seemingly endless lockdowns and restrictions since the start of COVID 19, so it is no surprise that our homes have had to evolve along the way. What used to be a place to lay your head after a long day’s work, has had to become a place where you eat, sleep, work and socialise all in one. For this reason, more and more people are opting to live together, whether it be to avoid the loneliness many people experienced during lockdowns, or simply to be able to enjoy the home on another level. At Crowdhaus, we are big fans of making the property market more collaborative (putting the crowd in Crowdhaus, if you will 😜). Keep reading to explore why social living, as well as group searching, could be the keys to a happy home.

In the UK, 61% of households contain at least two adults. This is not a big shock if you think that, as humans, we are inherently social beings and it is in our biology to live in groups. However, during the past year, we have also seen over 35,000 private renters make the move to live socially. Studies have shown a high range of benefits linked with living in groups; from positive effects on mental health and self esteem, to medical benefits such as reduced blood pressure and even lessening the risk of Alzheimers. Aside from this, it can make life more fun and help you get to know new people and a new environment much faster. Of course, it is vital to move in with the right people and, if you do need help deciding if someone is a good match, take a look at section 2 of this blog

We have already seen that social living is huge in the UK, and is only getting bigger. This is where Crowdhaus can really help. If you have ever tried to find a home with friends, the idea of sharing links from different agencies in your group chat, only to subsequently lose these links in a sea of messages, will be familiar. How can you make sure that one lazy housemate has actually researched the properties? Whilst we can’t fix your housemate’s organisation skills, we can certainly make this process a whole lot easier for all involved. This is where Crowdhaus Groups come in.

We came up with the idea of making your property search collaborative, in order to cater for the ever increasing number of people who want to live together. With our Groups feature, you can Search Together with friends and family within our app. We put a lot of time into designing a way for people to search together without having to worry about organising the team or competing to stay in line across platforms. With Crowdhaus, all of your group’s properties can be saved in one place and you can add or remove members to the group as you please.

If you are looking to move with your peers, download our app today and see your search get a whole lot easier. If you aren’t currently looking to move, but just want to drool over that million pound property you’ve had your eye on for a while, we’ve got all your dream searches covered too.
